Moving 2 Cats from montreal to Australia

Post Sun Dec 09, 2007 11:15 am

Hey everyone!
Moving pets to australia is pretty complex. They need to be injected with a microchip for international database blah blah.
Can anyone tell me of an all-in-one pet agency who can take care of all this stuff in one shot instead of doing it all piecemeal and going nuts?

Thanks!

I am moving my cat there as well and I am halfway through the process. There is a lady in Calgary taking care of all the paperwork for me, otherwise it would be quite the hassle. PM me and I can give you her contact info. Cheers

Hi,

I am moving to Western Australia from Fort Mc Murray, Alberta and am battling to find out who the Official Governement Approved Vets and labs are in Alberta, I would really apprciate it if I could get the ladies' contact details in Calgary too.

Thank you SO much.
Regards
Natalie

But what if I don't want my pet to have a chip on her back? It's just giving me a bit of a paranoia here. Could I do that?

I've been looking into costs for taking my dog there. I can try to find the website I got my information from, but what I remember is there is a quarantine required of at least 30 days upon entry to Australia. You are responsible for the cost of food and care while in quarantine, as well as the vet check. I believe for my dog I calculated this to be about $800.

The microchip is a pre-requisite I believe, and you can not import him until he has this. My cat had to get one and he seems completely unaffected by it. PM me if you need help with any import questions since I am in the process of doing the same thing. Cheers

What would be a total approximate cost per cat for relocation from Canada to Australia?

Airfare, vet bills, applications, pet relocation service fee, etc.
