Moving back to Canada from Middle East

I am moving back to Canada and what I have come to know through this forum is that personal effects I can take back to Canada - duty free. Most of my items are anyway more than 1 year old. Now my question is that what about gold. I don't have a container full of gold but my wife has some gold which she wants to take back. Will that also be duty free or any duty has to be paid on that.
