Moving Back to Canada - What About my Mazda?

Post Wed Dec 10, 2008 8:14 pm

Fellow Canadians,

I've had enough of living in the U.S. Time to move back home. I don't foresee too many issues, except for my car. I bought my Mazda protege back in 2004. How do I bring it over the Canadian border, and how much tax will I have to pay? The car originally cost me $10,000, and I have about 80,000 miles on it now.

More questions to follow, but this is a start.

Thanks,
D.

You should not be charged any duty or taxes on personal goods at all, and that includes your car.

You may have to have daytime running lights installed after you move back, but nothing else. Unless it doesn't pass polution inspection.

Lots of info around here about importing your car.
