Moving & Shipping Companies

Moving & Shipping Companies

Postby John12 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 3:45 pm

Hi, I am currently living in NSW, Australia with my wife and we are thinking about making the move back to ON, Canada.

Can anyone recommend a moving & shipping company that is reputable, reliable, and preferably has been used by you?

I would like to get quotes, but first want to narrow down the list to the reliable companies.

Alternatively, can you warn me of companies who I should avoid using?

Thanks.

I haven't done this myself but I'm sure my time will come in another year or two.

There was someone on here a couple of months ago that was asking about shipping. If you have a look back you'll probably find it. I'm sure he's had several quotes by now. I asked him what the rough cost was and he said about $6000 for packing and shipping. I hope that's accurate! If you do get quotes please post them on here so we all know how much it costs.

Sorry I can't help more, but maybe that other person can help.

As a side note, did you get citizenship while you were here? We can get citizenship in about another year or so. We are still thinking about going back to Canada in a couple of years, but we love Australia so we'd like the option of returning some day.

Hello there.just wondering: what's making you consider moving back to Canada
to Canada?

I am curious, as I am in the same boat.

Before we came we had decided to only come for about 3 years or so just to try something different for a while. So we had always planned on going back to Canada.

I love it here and could stay for a long time I think. My husband misses the cold weather though (ugh!) and also family. I also miss family although I'm ok just about anywhere.

So I hope that answers it. It has absolutely nothing to do about Australia though.

I am looking at moving from Australia too, but to USA instead of Canada. My company is paying for the move and have used both Allied Pickfords and Wridgeways over the years. Both are large international removalists so should be reputable, but perhaps pricier than a smaller outfit?

We wouldn't be going back for about 2 years or so, so you might arrive just before we go. Hopefully you make it over before we go so we can at least get together once.

Yah, I'd sell you our house, if the price is right! We might even be able to sell you all our furniture too!

Too bad you are not moving back to Edmonton region, we could work out a short term trade.
That way neither of us would have to actually sell anything ;)
