Hey there!

I can't really help with moving to bangalore, but I know about the social system in India generally. I'm a medical student here in Aurangabad, Maharastra living here since roughly the same time last year.

First of all, read up a little about the culture in neighbouring cities around bangalore and traditions following in the area. Know a little about the three main religions prevailing India; hinduism, islam and buddhism and their main practices. Generally, people in India are a little closed-minded and are hesitant to speak with foreigners. Showing the locals you know about India really gets them going. As a mum, you will have to eventually make some friends, and you are truly lucky to be in bangalore! Bangalore is significantly more advanced than other parts of India. Don't be too worried about certain aspects like food and water as many do. You can find clean, bottled mineral water almost anywhere. You will find almost any food you would have in Canada in your local supermarket including instant noodles, nutella, peanut butter, jams, cereals, cookies and crackers. Even lays, even that colgate toothpaste, even sunsilk and dove shampoo!

I would reccomend bringing nice bedsheets, possibly all your nice cosmetics (India has brands like mac...but not clinique and estee lauder) and all your electronics!! Life as a mum should be fun, be open to the people and they will be very open to you.
