Hi There,

I'm being considered for a technology pm role in Barbados. I'm fairly confident that I will be getting an offer. My compensation will be close to or less than $100k US / year.

I was wondering if anyone has recently moved to Barbados for work that can give me some advice related to saftey. Im middle-eastern in background buy my wife is a very white, English Canadian. We have been maried for 2 years and planning on having children soon. If your current situation has any similarities please send me a note.

My wife was recently told that most people in Barbados are walking around with guns and the crime rate is quickly on the rise. this seems to go against most articles/info I've read but thought I would start doing some more research.

Thanks in advance.

You've been a bit mislead, which is good in this case. Barbados is safe. Actually one of the safer islands out there.

There is crime, like any other place, but it's not murders and kidnappings you'll find here. More like petty thefts of opportunity (open doors and windows are just as inviting here as they are at home).

The only people I've seen with guns are the military.

Feel free to send me a private message if you'd like :)
