Moving to Budapest In January for Exchange. Few Questions

Postby sensfan » Tue May 08, 2007 6:32 pm

Hello all,

First post on these boards.

I'm going to study at Corvinus University of Budpest for a semester (4-5 months) (I'll be staying once I'm done within the confines of Europe.well lose confines I suppose, for how long? No clue.)

I've been trying to find a decent bank account to move some of my money into Euro. I know that it's the forint, I'd just rather move it to the euro to make things a bit easier? Or maybe I should just stay with what I currently have with our good old Canadian Dollar?

I'll have more questions and I'll keep them within this thread but I cant think of them right now. Maybe a general idea of cost of living?

I lived there for a year+ and just kept using my Canadian bank card. It works out pretty well, just take out like 20,000 forints at a time (works out to a little over $100 CAD). Find out with your bank what their charges are.

It's easier to take out a bunch of cash at once and hang on to it, taking out smaller amounts racks up service fees.

Hungarian bank accounts are a pain in the butt too.
