moving to Cairo

Post Sat Dec 01, 2007 11:14 am

Hello,

I got a job offer in Cairo and I was wondering what I should expect in terms of living conditions, living there as a woman and being able to find a good place to rent. I will be working for a great company who will be taking care of my relocation expenses and all that stuff but just wanted to know from those of you living there whether it's a good place to live. Any information on what the best area where expats can live confortably would be muchly appreciated!

Thanks!

I have never lived in Cairo (other primarily Arab countries, but not Egypt)and so I can't say what to expect. However, I think it is always a good reminder to expect significant differences and to position yourself as a student of the new culture. I think it would be fair in any culture to say that if respect as a woman is a question, it would be smart to study how "respecatble" and honoured women of that culture conduct themselves: then act accordingly. (and have fun doing it!)

How has your experience been.

Hi,

I'm thinking of trying to get a job, working with people who have disabilities and come to Egypt or maybe Italy.

I'm just wondering how your experience has been? Hope you're enjoying it.
