check with the Canadian consulate first to find out if her children are eligible for Canadian citizenship thru her. I'm not sure if there are years of residency requirements for the Canadian parent.
If they are eligible, the only cost would be to get the immigrant visa for you, which could take a while. Possibly up to a year, but maybe faster.
Canada allows its citizens to sponsor non-married partners, so you don't have to get married now or after you move there if you don't want to. Common-law, conjugal, or same sex parter sponsorships are processed in the same way married sponsorships are AFAIK.
