I thought that you were going home to Canada??? Rennes is lovely, though I have to admit that being a country girl I much prefer the areas of Carnac, Quiberon, Dinard, Vannes (although that is a city - go figure!).

There's tonnes to do in Rennes - fantastic restaurants, and there are good train links to Paris (5 hours on the TGV), and the other large French cities. Enjoy Brittany - I wish that I was going to be there, too!

republican - Will you have a car while you are in Rennes? I'm asking cause there is so much to see in the area that the trains won't take you to, and the bus system is rather lacking in frequency - at least in that area it is.

If you get the chance and have not already been, then may I suggest you visit Dinard (across the estuary from St. Malo) It is a fantastic little town - but there isn't a lot to do in the winter as most of the homes are summer homes, so the town is quite quiet - though I think that that is the best time of the year to go! St. Malo is spectacular - lots of stuff there that will entertain & educate. (Jacques Cartier was from there)

I have to tell you, I am so jealous! I would give everything to be able to live in Brittany again. One of my favorite things to do was get up in the morning and walk to the pattiserie to get fresh Pain au chocolate for breakfast!

Have a great time!
