What do you need to know? I lived in Frankfurt for the last couple years.

Glad to help.

Hi Matt,

I am not sure about immigration procedures, whether I am required to start the process before I leave or can I start that once I am there. As well I am getting mixed information about what is required to bring my dog with me.

Where are you from in Canada?

Thanks Sherrie Smile

I'm pretty sure (really sure) you need to start the procedures in Canada, before you go, unless you're in Germany on some sort of Visa already.

I've got no idea about the dog though Smile I think dog owners in Germany need licenses and have to pay taxes based on the breed of dog.

And, I'm from all over the place Smile

Good luck!

Hello Sherrie:

Before moving here to Germany I enquired about bringing a cat over here from Vancouver. I was told they need a type of certificate that you can easily get from your Vet that states the wellness etc., of your pet.
It is an extra charge, of course, but it wasn't to much or too difficult to get.
Ask your Vet and he can tell you what you would need, I'm sure.
Hope this helps.

Do you still need some links for help on immigration etc.

HI Sherrie:

Hope these are helpful:

http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/~bonn/Embassy/Consular/eco2main.htm
---This address you may have already, but it has all sorts of info, including on left "Assisting Canadians" etc etc

http://www.germany-info.org/relaunch/info/consu...stoms/moving.html
---This address has info on moving here, also on the right, two links on info for your pet(s)

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/index.html
---This one is interesting. Just select a country at the top and your off.
