Moving to the Aberdeen area - Where to live??

We are moving to Aberdeen in a few months with primary aged children. I am having trouble "getting opinions" on good places to live (meaning family oriented areas with highly regarded schools) in Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire.

Anyone have any comments? I would greatly appeciate any information.

I would recommend two websites to check out. The first is http://www.upmystreet.com/ to research information on the area. This site provides you with various statistics on the neighbourhood. To find out what the schools are like, look at this site http://www.hmie.gov.uk/ to read the school's most recent inspection report. These are the two things I would do if I wasn't in the area to do my research.

If I was in the area, I would go into the local newsagents and pubs and ask the people working where they would choose to live in the area. I would also do a drive-by during the day and at 8pm and 10pm, just to see who is out on the streets at that time.
