Moving to the usa

Post Tue May 19, 2009 8:16 am

Hello, I am moving to the states as I am getting married. I will be driving a U-Hal truck and was wondering if any one knows what I will need to do to be able to cross. I have looked every where but do not seem to get a stright answer. My soon to be husband will be flying down to canada and driving back to the usa with me.

If you're getting married in the US you need a fiancee visa, K-1, takes about seven or eight months to get, he sponsors you for it.

In terms of moving stuff across the border in a U-haul truck, you need a packing list basically to show to CBP.

Unless you already have your fiancee visa, when you show up at the border with your U-Haul, they're just going to turn you around and send you back home again. You can't just show up at the border and say "I'm getting married and movin' in!" Sorry.

See http://www.visajourney.com for information on the Fiancee Visa (K1) process. And don't quit your job yet!

Hello there. My boyfriend and I are in the process of filing for the US Fiance Visa(Forms I129-F, G-325A-Biographic Info)
I would appreciate any advice from anyone who have gone through this.
A few questions:
Do you think it is necessary to use an immigration lawyer to help file our application?
Re:I129-F form, question 20-ask about the fiance(me) applying for a visa abroad @the American Embassy? Does that question pertain to Canadians, given we don't need any "special" visas to enter the US?
If it does, is that a separate application from the I129-F that I would have to file at the same time?
I have also, printed out phone statements/travel intinerary-as proof of our relationship. Is there anything else that I should include that will help our case?

I appreciate any/all advice related to this topic.
Thanks

You will have to go to either Montreal or Vancouver for your visa interview. We Canadians don't need a visa to visit, but we certainly do if we intend to live there permanently, hence the need for the fiancee visa.

For ALL the information you will need and help to fill out the forms and such, go to http://www.visajourney.com
