Moving to U.S. from Canada Customs Form - Shipping Goods

Postby renee » Mon Dec 22, 2008 7:24 pm

Hi everyone,

This is kind of a silly question. When I moved my stuff to the U.S. a month ago I forgot to check off the "I have shipped goods that are accompanying me" box on my customs card. I was completely exhausted and I'm so used to not checking that box off I was just running on autopilot and forgot.

So my question is, can Customs look this up and check? Should I just check that box off the next time I go through? I have no idea if this is a big deal or not.

That box is really for dutiable goods that are entering, say you bought something, so they can assess the duty as you pass through the POE. Personal effects are duty-free so it's pretty academic.
