I am a British Citizen and left England when I was 13, I never recieved my NIN card. I am planning on going back to England in the summer, and was wondering if I could apply for the card in Canada.

Anyone know if this is possible? Has anyone applied for their national insurance number at a British Consulate in Toronto/Ottawa?

I'd phone up Work & Pensions first, they may already have assigned you an NI number. My mother thought she didn't have one because she never applied for one when the law was introduced back in the 1950s or whenever it was, however when she got her pension they told her she did have one.

You probably already have one. I do know that if you are not of british nationality you cannot apply for one until you are physically in the country and employed. however this might not be true in your case. Smile
