NEED HELP! Requirements of Working Visa

Postby billymac22 on Tue Aug 28, 2007 9:37 am

I was wondering, part of the requirements for the working visa is that you have at a minimum $5000 in your bank account. Is this true? Do they ever ask to see proof? We have return tickets to Canada however we are very nervous they are going to ask to see proof of our $5000. Can someone help ASAP? PLEASE! haha

Cheers

Hey Bill: Were here on a 457 Visa - have been here almost 2 years- I don't recall that they ever asked us if we had that amount ( or any amount) -have never been asked for proof- just saw an inetesting article in a newspaper- seems they ( meaning gov't) don't know where all the holders of work visas are anyway
We had jobs to come to (transferred from N. Ont ) however, so it wasn't an issue for us

^^ his 457 working visa supports you through a business or employer if your alone and want to travel with no prior work plans or anyone to vouch for you employment Ive been told that you go through immigration customs at the airport they will ask to see a recent bank stantemnt of your balance but weither its 4500 or 5000 or 6000 i think there fairly lenient also if you can proove that you have a montly income from where ever that can also count towards your 5000 total, this is what ive been able to find out over the my time researching my trip to australia i hope it helps and if you dont have anywhere close to 5000 you should re consider a working visa lol maybe a tourist one will suit you better in that case.

I just entered on a work visa and it was suprisingly simple. In fact they didn't even want to see my paperwork on my work visa? As far as I know, all you need is proof that you can, if need be aquire $$$
ie: credit cards ect. I am sure you will be ok. They never asked me for any monetary proof.
Good Luck!
