Need some advice

Right, so here's where im stuck. I'm on the YMS Visa and am living in the Uk currently. We're travelling to Lanzarote next week but i don't have travel insurance. I didn't bother with insurance here cause once i've been here for a year then i get to be part of the NHS health care plan automatically.

My problem is whenever i look for insurance i either have to be a UK permanent resident or be a Canadian who's travelling back to Canada after the trip.

I've found a couple sites, but the price starts at 85$ for a week! Where as you can get travel insurance if your a Brit for 5£ for the week....

anyone have any ideas or opinions on where to look?

Do you have to have insurance to fly? If not then you need to decide if it's worth 40 quid or worth the risk to go without . . . I've travelled all over without buying travel insurance. I have never gotten sick - but, it was a gamble all the same!
