Need to show diploma for second TN application?

I had a 3 year TN, but quit workfor 6 months and am now returning to basically the same position. I think, however, I need to apply for a new TN since I have since then left and re-entered the US as a visitor.

So, I am wondering whether I need to bring my diploma (in addition to employment letter) to the border, or whether the scan of my diploma is still in their system (the last border guy told me that I wouldn't have to bring the diploma again - my diploma is in storage in another country right now, so I don't have access to it!!!).
