Need UPDATED Info Re: Bringing TV to Australia 2012

Post Sat Nov 05, 2011 12:56 pm

Most threads discussing this topic are dated, and in the world of technology I am looking for a current opinion on bringing a Canadian TV to Australia. Seems to me that all signals are now HDMI, from the HD Cable box to the Receiver to the TV... why would this not work in Australia?

I thought HDMI surpassed PAL/NTSC limitations... Please correct if wrong!

I have seen TV prices in Australia and they are royally ripped off in that country for almost everything! Shoes are $190 vs $100 in Canada, Laptops nearly double - even in Costco! They even pay more to buy their own Australian lamb in Oz, then we pay for the exact brand in Canada - Talk about an upside down country!

Well, the cost of living is much higher in Australia, but so are wages. Things are just more expensive there, but people make more money. It balances out. This is how inflation works.

I can't answer the question about the TV. We are in the process of moving back to Canada from Australia, and we've sold our TV and pretty much everything electronic. I don't want plug adapters all over our house since the electricity is different voltage.
