Negotiating contracts in the US E2 Visa

Hello everyone,

I have recently been approved for an E-2 Visa for the US. I am a canadian citizen. I would like to have a canadian come to the US and negotiate contracts for me in the US.

Would this be a violation of his status? I have heard from various places that it is not against the law for a Canadian to go into the US to negotiate contracts but I do not want to make a mistake.
Also, if it is legal, do I have to pay him through our Canadian branch? Or can I pay him with the American company.
