Neighborhoods in London ?

Post Mon Jul 21, 2008 7:08 am

Hello all,

My boyfriend and I will be moving to London in September. He will be a student and I will be working anywhere that'll take me since I have no specific professional background.

We are a bit curious about neighborhoods in London. We asked to have a room on campus but chances are quite low since there are very few rooms available for couples.

Since we might have to rent a flat in town, we are wondering what areas are best for an early 20s couple with, honestly, not so much money to spend on rent, since he is a student and I am a non-professional worker. Our budget would be maximum 200£ (ideally with bills and council tax included) per week for a studio.

Of course, we want what everybody else wants : a safe place, near transportation and amenities, with nice sights around.

Am I dreaming in colors or is this possible ?

Thank you for your responses.

i've recommended this book before but i would encourage you to get a copy of living and working in london 3rd edition by di tolland. they discuss each borough, the general population, crime rate, housing market etc. i found it very helpful and use it to reference often when looking for a job/flat.
