No, you can't have 2 driver's licenses. In most states and provinces it is illegal to keep your old out of state/province license so they'll take it and destroy it in most places.

Why? Do you want to buy a firearm? Just go to a gun show. I personally dont believe in handgun ownership, but whatever floats your boat.

Before moving to South Carolina, I had a California licence. the state never took my Ontario licence, so I had two.

When I got my South Carolina licence, again the state never took my Ontario licence. I specifically asked if they wanted it, and was told that since it is out of country, I am welcome to keep it.

FYI South Carolina didn't require any testing at all as they have reciprocity with Ontario, California made me do all the testing (written and road)

The Nevada DMV will take your Canadian license, the local office here keeps mine in their safe for when I return to Canada, the thought is that when I return to Canada I will trade in my Nevada License for my Canadian one (unless my Canadiann license is expired by then). They will make you go through a written and driving test (if you have never taken one in the United States). I had a major arguement with the DMV about my elegibilty for a NV license (I am on a TN), so if there are issues, let me know and I will give you the contact information for the people in Carson City to clarify things. Also the NV license will only be valid until the expiry of your I-94/Visa, luckilly it is less than $25 to renew your license here.

Because you must be a resident of the State in order to acquire a handgun. However there were new rules introduced a few years ago that apply to non-immigrant aliens, simply getting a DL doesn't cut it anymore, you have to prove you have lived in the State for at least 90 days (utility bills, etc.) plus you must have a hunting licence issued by any State.
