New baby in USA, Dual citizens?

Post Mon Jun 06, 2011 10:44 pm

Hi,

I am Canadian citizen with TN in USA, I got a new baby recently and mother is US Green card. The baby should be US citizen herself, my question if I want to keep her US citizen, can I also apply for her Canadian citizen? Any links?

Thanks.

She is a US citizen by birth,.

Assuming you or mother were born in canada or natuarilized as Cdn citizens, she is automatically a Cdn citizen.

You should file to get her Cdn citizenship card (it takes over a year).

Nothing you or she does in this regard will hurt either citizenship. They are both hers automatically for life.
