That about sums it up! I'm not THAT new, I moved here in May to be with my boyfriend who I met working on cruise ships. Newcastle is lovely and the brits are great but to be honest I madly miss Canada. I have had the hardest time making friends. I find most people have a large group of very close friends who have known eachother for 20 odd years. I started working about 3 weeks ago and although everyone is REALLY nice. my coworkers are middle aged women or young lads. I tag along with my boyfriend to various BBQs and nights out and always have a good time but I'm looking to make something MINE. even my job isn't MINE. his aunt is my boss and he's worked there several times. I guess I just need a bout of encouragement and hey if anyone else is out here maybe you have some pointers, or ideas of something i could get involved in. or meet up for a pint! hahaha anyway, hope everyone is doing well. oh canada

Hi,

I'm from Vancouver, been living in Durham, and working in Newcastle for a year.

I like it a lot but it is very different, an easy to get homesick.
I've met quite a few cool people here which makes it easier.

It gets easier over time an as you make friends,

Dun worry,

Jeff
