new grad wishing to start off career in the U.S? possible?

Post Wed Aug 13, 2008 10:33 pm

hey guys,

so I just recently graduated from University of Toronto Bachelor of Business Admin. I am in Marketing and I don't seem to see a "marketing professional" job title under the TN list. does that mean i can't get it?

also, how does the TN status work with my job search process? so I can ONLY apply TN visa AFTER having an job offer? and many job sites will ask if you are legally able to work in the U.S, do I say yes? no? it seems to be the system is structured in a way that i can't get a job unless i am legally entitled to work in the states and at the same time i can't process the visa unless i get a job first?

thanks guys. =)

Basically to get a TN-1 they give you a job offer letter that is more detailed than usual, so obviously you need a job offer first. You can enter as B-1 visitor to attend a specific job interview, but you can't enter and just go looking for jobs. (Although the regs seem to say you can't go to attend a specific interview either, but plenty of people on here have done it and said that to USCIS at the POE).

Obviously you can only get TN-1 under a listed category.
Steve.
