Income Tax and Canadian working remotely for USA Company

US Visas and Immigration

Income Tax and Canadian working remotely for USA Company

Hello,
I search the forums but couldn't find the answers I'm looking for.
I will be working from Canada for a USA company. The US company will be paying me in Cdn $.
My questions are as follows:
1. Do I need to pay any income tax in USA? or file any form?
2. USA company will be paying me with my name. Is it possible to claim amounts like vehicle lease, mortgage (since I will be working from home), office furniture, etc?
3. Can I setup a corporation and even though, employer will be paying me not in the name of corporation but can I somehow claim that money as corporation?

Please advice.
Thanks

Job offer but no degree

US Visas and Immigration

Job offer but no degree

Hello,

I have worked with many plants within a large Canadian owned company for over 20 years primarily in factory automation machine building, design concepting, applications engineering, and project management roles over the years.
A sister plant in the states has recently offered me a temporary job (1-1.5 years estimated) based on my "technical understanding of automation dynamics, their products/processes, and inherent efficiencies gained through risk mitigation resulting in time/cost savings"..... as they put it.
I do not have a degree but am certified a certified Tool Maker and PMP with lots of product/process specific experience. After researching the TN visa criteria, would it be reasonable to suggest obtaining a TN under the Scientific Technician category?
My role essentially is to "assess risk/deficiencies and assist the engineering/maintenance department in ensuring pragmatic changes within production, quality, cost, and time constraints are acheived."
Many thanks in advance

Does the Visa Waiver Program allow me to stay for 6 months?

US Visas and Immigration

Does the Visa Waiver Program allow me to stay for 6 months?

Everything I've read says that Canadians visiting can stay up to 6 months. But I was reading something about the Visa Waiver Program, which I entered on, and it says I can only stay 90 days.

Under the program, a nonimmigrant visitor may enter the United States, from a visa waiver country, for a period of 90 days or less.

Is that true? Because I've been here 5 months and I never applied for a visa. I didn't think I had to because I'm from Canada.

Canada is part of the visa waiver program, right?

Green Card Processing

US Visas and Immigration

Green Card Processing

I have a question about the green card process. I am currently waiting to receive H1B status in the US, and my employer will start the green card rolling sometime next year as an EB2. I have been told informally that at some point during the application process, so long as I am adjusting status from within the US, I can also file for spousal work authorization (she and I are both Canadians). Is that true? And if it is, how does it work?

HELP!! NECESSARY SWITCH car insurance and drivers lisence???

Canadians in the USA

HELP!! NECESSARY SWITCH car insurance and drivers lisence???

help, there is sooo much conflicting advice on the website about this issue. i am moving from bc to seattle. i would definately prefer to keep my canadian driver's lisence and insurance!

some say that as long as you come back over the border within 6months you do so? i think someone quoted progressive of honoring this but does that mean you have to by american car insurance??

does icbc honor this?? is your coverage the same? will icbc still protect you if an accident occurs?

does it make a difference if you are a TN visa temporary resident? which i am.

OR do you absolutely have give up your bc identities and get a us insurance plan, us driver's lisence and us plates?????????

its an older car, that i own outright and is aircare approved.

anyone know the real facts about how to keep bc identity in regards to cars/driving etc...
