If we travel or live abroad, we usually come back to visit right? Here's a the place to meet other "re-pats" and Canadians who have returned.

Terminated and contracting back.

I haven't seen this one posted, so here it is:
I work for a Canadian subsidiary of a large US coporation. In 2009 the plant I worked at closed. After several options were considered I stayed on in Canada for 2 years working for the US plants from home but still paid through the Canadian subsidiary. Most of what I do I can do remotely, but I got an L1B visa (specialized knowledge) for the ...

niagara falls, courtyard, clock chimes, near sheraton???

I need to find out what the courtyard/garden/little park area is right out front of the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. It has a big theatre looking courtyard with a small little area with a garden of trees and a small pond. Does anyone know what this is called and if there is a place that has photos of it?

Also, we heard last February at night, around 11 PM, ...

Quebec Health Insurance for Canadian moving back to Canada

I would like to know if I am eligible for RAMQ coverage. I have recently been informed that I may be eligible.

I was born in Ontario, but lived in the United States for 14 years before starting university in Montreal. I hold both Canadian and US citizenships. I began attending university in 2009. I didn't think I was eligible for coverage because the Regie would think I was from the United States. However, I ...

Mom born in England???

Hey!
So I heard it was possible to apply for British citizenship if you have a parent born in the UK, and you were born before December 31, 1982.
As it happens my mom was born in London, England, and I was born (believe it or not) December 30, 1982.
My question is, can I still apply for British citizenship, and how on Earth do I start??
Thanks all ...

Can my parents file tax return if they're paying for my loan

Hi, all

I did my undergraduate study at the University of Alberta, after that I went on for my Masters program for 2 years. The total of my student loan is 50,000. My parents are suggesting to pay 20,000 for me, as they feel that it's possible for them to claim some tax return.

I myself have about 20,000 in my savings, so they said they could pay it for me first and I pay ...

Health Care

Hi all,

Does anyone know what happens with health care benefits after you relocate to a different country? Do we loose them temporarily/permanently? Can we apply for them once we return to Canada? Can anyone explain? Does it depend on a province? I lived in Quebec before moving to the US.

I couldn't find any information online..

Thanks.

Back to maiden name after being widowed to a U.S. citizen

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask this question, but everyone here has been so helpful in the past, and I can't seem to find and exact answer anywhere else I've searched.

Basically, I'm widowed, was married to a U.S. citizen, preparing to move back to Canada (Ontario) and want to go back to my maiden name. I've gathered that this name, on my Ontario birth certificate, is always considered my ...
