In order for me to go to school there or work I need to learn German ...

One-way or Return ticket?

Hi there,

I'm researching flights right now for leaving Canada with a 1 year YMA. What is the best option?

1) Should I buy a one way ticket though I find they are way expensive? Also, would I get hassled at the immigration with a one-way?

2) Should I buy a return ticket with any return date and use the return portion and then get my ticket once I know my plans after the year ...

Remember "Post Restante" letters?

Hi everyone!
Can anyone remember life before email? Back then, when travelers tried to communicate "on the road", we left letters for each other at the post office, marked "Poste Restante". Did anyone else do this? It was super romantic. I'm writing a story about Poste Restante and would love to hear your anecdotes. Many an affair was started/ended this way. Sometimes, you wouldn't know when or if your friend would get the letter! How ...

More visa questions

I am looking at moving to Germany in roughly a year and I know from research that my long-term visa options are the SWAP or PAD visas as I am no longer enrolled as a student. However, I recently spoke with a fellow Canadian who lived there for the first 1.5 years of a 2.5 year stay by continually renewing his tourist visa on "bulls--t excuses" as he called them. I am also currently outside ...

...are Canadians allowed to purchase properties in Germany??

Hello Canadians in Germany!

My husband and I love Germany. We visited some family and friends two years ago and we just fall in love with the country.

We came up with a really exciting idea few weeks ago about maybe it would be really nice to look into buying an investment property in germany. Our friends and family in Germany tells us there are more renters than there are home buyers.

We are both ...
