Youth Exchange Visa

Has anyone tried moving to Sweden after completing a YEV? I'm starting one next year and may not want to leave! Any advice would be excellent. ie is it easier to immigrate after studying in Sweden?
I've been taking Swedish lessons for about 6months. Is it easy to find a job in social work? I work with adults with autism and other disabilities but have an education in Communication design so would look for work ...

Cargo/Shipping to Norway

Does anyone have any experiences with any cargo or shipping companies which I could use to move things (clothes, photo albums, books) to Norway? I don't really have enough for a container, probably just a couple of boxes.

I am wondering if shipping stuff would be a cheaper alternative to paying for extra baggage (since SAS now has a 1 piece of baggage per passenger policy)

CAN-SWE Youth Exchange Program

Hello,

I am a Canadian, who is planning on coming to Sweden this December, through the Youth Exchange Program. In doing so I will receive a work and residents permit for a year. However, I am a bit confused as to my "official status" in the country. From what I have read, I will be considered a non-resident. Im coming to Sweden, so I can learn the language and to be with my boyfriend. I ...

Norrköping

Are there any Canadians in Norrköping? There must be someone here because in July 2010 someone painted a Canadian flag on a rock cliff beside road 209 to Arkösund near the Kungsängs flygplats! What a wonderful feeling it was to see that graffiti! :D

Remember Poste Restante letters?

Hi everyone!
Can anyone remember life before email? Back then, when travelers tried to communicate "on the road", we left letters for each other at the post office, marked "Poste Restante". Did anyone else do this? It was super romantic. I'm writing a story about Poste Restante and would love to hear your anecdotes. Many an affair was started/ended this way. Sometimes, you wouldn't know when or if your friend would get the letter! How ...

Tuition free study in higher education in Scandinavia?

Tuition free study in higher education in Scandinavia?

I am an English teacher, and have decided to go back to school, but a little short on cash. I need to do some research regarding Scandinavian educational offers to foreigners, and any way I can come to live there, and study there (for a 4 year degree) tuition-free, meaning I become a resident of that country, and enroll in the cost-free, or lower-cost education services they ...

Canadians in Denmark - canadian tax?

Hi there,

just looking for some info - I will be moving to Copenhagen this summer sometime, and trying to get more info on how taxes will work. Is anyone maintaining CDN residency for the sake of paying CDN taxes on their international income, and how does that work if you are living and working in Denmark? There are two things here: 1) it might actually be advantageous to try to be tax liable to ...

Something strange happend to me at the Oslo Gardermoen airpo

Something strange happend to me at the Oslo Gardermoen airport.

I arrived by plane (from the Bulgarian coast), and was asked by an immigration officer how long I would stay? I was truthful, and said 2 and half months. He said ok do you have enough money, i said yes, but he wasn't convinced so he called up his boss to question me further in the special area they have for follow-ups.

His boss was ...
