Does anyone out there have any experience of returning to Canada with foreign national (in my case British) spouse and children? For example do you have to sort out all the paperwork from outside Canada? Or can you go over and work on it from there? I've desperately wanted to return for many years but minor things like marriage and children slow the process down somewhat lol .....

Just got a new Canadian Passport through the High Commission
in London. Took just under three weeks, using Special (24 hour)
Delivery both ways, one long weekend and a phone-call
(from the commission to me, to clarify a question on the
application). Better than the four- to-five weeks that
Canada House routinely warns callers.

Ive gotta make a few phone calls home to Canada and Australia. Does anyone know of a good calling card type or international call provider so I can not have to pay too much. Im in the UK.

I am a Canadian citizen coming to England on a working holiday-maker visa. How does this work with income tax if I'm in a position where I am considered self-employed and my employer therefore doesn't pay taxes for me? Do I pay income tax in Canada or in England?

If anyone has an information on this or on who I should talk to about this, that would be great!

I just found this site after living in the UK for 4 yrs. I have been reading many old posts and can totally relate to how difficult it is to make friends in this country. It can be fairly lonely. I would love to meet other Canadians over here. Is there any groups or clubs for that ? any info would be much apprieciated.

We are moving to Aberdeen in a few months with primary aged children. I am having trouble "getting opinions" on good places to live (meaning family oriented areas with highly regarded schools) in Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire.

Anyone have any comments? I would greatly appeciate any information.
