Is this a good offer?

Folks

I've been offered a transfer to the UK, paying 54,000 GBP and car allowance (nominally valued at about 4,000 GBP / year).

I'd likely be residing within 20 miles of Reading; and based on the research I've done, it looks like rent plus 'council tax' will run about 1250 GBP.

Agents - room rentals

Hey,

I'm wondering if anyone here has rented a room through an agent and whether it is worth the fee. Are apartments generally more expensive than the local market? I did check by comparing the availabilities with Gumtree and some were more expensive, but others not by much. Then again, it's a small sample. Is it worth just paying the agency fee for the convenience and peace of mind factor, even though you may not ...

gointernational.ca?

I am looking to head to the UK on a working holiday and am worried about the cost of not finding a job as soon as I get over there. I noticed that gointernational.ca has a package where they will find you a job placement. Has anyone ever used their services? They claim that it'll be in the hospitality sector which is okay with me because that is where I am right now. I'm mostly ...

Although I am fairly well set-up, there is a nagging voice at the back of my head telling me it is 'time to go home'. I'm listening to it and exploring the possiblity. Anyone out there with the same experience?

Canadian moving to London!

Hello!

I am a Canadian teacher moving to North London in September . Coming from a relatively small Canadian city, I am finding the decision of where to live in North London difficult, considering the size of London.

Thus, I am asking for your help! Does anyone have any suggestions of good places in Northern London to live? I am looking for somewhere somewhat affordable (I know, not very realistic in London - but I ...
