Preparing for getting a mortgage

My husband and I are looking at moving to the UK in 2014. We're considering buying a house (not in London), but after reading some of the posts on here, it seems that it would be difficult to do. Does anyone have any advice about how we could prepare for this so that when the time comes we will be able to do it more easily? I don't really want to rent for a few ...

Canadian marrying American, different scenario

Hi there. I'm a Canadian citizen, currently seventeen years old and engaged to my nineteen year old American boyfriend. I live in Ontario, and he lives in Georgia. He is in his first year of university (graphic arts), and next year I'll be starting my first year of a bachelor of science in nursing program. As such, we don't intend to get married for at least a year and a half (so I can finish ...

Getting a UK passport

My husband's father was born in the UK, and as far as I understood it, this makes him a citizen by descent (or some such language) and entitles him to a passport which will let him come and go freely.
Am I right in thinking this? I am confused by all the talk on this site about Ancestry Visas, of which I've never heard before.
We are planning on moving to the UK in a ...

URGENT TN - withdrew change of status application

A change of status application from H4 to TN was filed for me on 01/31/2012 under premium processing. On 02/02/2012 a recipt number was received by the company. Also on 02/02/2012 I requested them to withdraw my TN application as I want to continue to stay on a H4 visa

1. So at this point, is my H4 visa still valid?

successive TN and R-1 visas... possible?

hello everyone,

I am in the following situation - perhaps someone might have a word of advice:

Beginning next August I will be employed as teacher in a seminary in Denver. For this, the seminary is currently applying for an R-1 religious worker visa.

However, I have also been invited to teach at a university in Ohio for the coming summer (June-July), and I would like to apply for TN status for this period only. ...

Canadian on working holiday applying for DeFacto visa?

Okay, so here's the situation:
  • I'm 7 months into my working holiday visa, still steadily unemployed
  • I have a LOCAL police check from my home in Ontario, which I'm sceptical about whether it's even valid for this application, which came up 100% clean both times I have gotten one last year (October and June)
  • I'm starting to apply for my partner visa, but only started in the last month
  • Have ...
