Independent Contractor.

Hey guys. I've seen a bunch of posts with questions similar to this, but would like to post anyway with my example and question.

If I where to have an American company willing to hire me (a Canadian living in Canada) to work from home as an independent contractor, not an employee of the company, what would I have to do? I would be paid in USD, and would never need to leave my home ...

Speaking Gig at US Conferences

Hi,

I've been asked to come and speak at a few events in the US. These are smaller conferences where I wouldnt receive any direct remuneration.

I'm trying to look into my best course of action for when approaching the border on these things. I flew to NY last year for a conference and the border guard kept me in my car for about 15 minuts grilling me on questions.... Just for attending.. He finally ...

Canadian Working on Cruise Ships - Taxes?

Hi everyone,

I have what it, I guess, a unique situation. I work (and live) on a cruise ship most of the year. I have worked on ships for years, but only recently have started full time.

I'm usually gone for 4 months at a time, and then home in Canada for about a month and a half before starting the cycle over. This means that in some calendar years I'm home for only 3 ...

Working permanently anywhere in the world???

I realize this is a very open ended question but...how does one find a career in another country? I do have skills and credentials (not a doctor or a rocket scientist but a pretty good resume). I have searched and found nothing but websites wanting my money to show me positions that are unavailable to me. I would love some advice from people who have the "knowhow" and thoughts on where to direct my energies. ...

Shipping Dogs from Toronto To Melbourne

Hello, I have 2 german shepherds that I have to ship to Australia and I have done most of the testing and working on their permits.

Has anyone used any other company that would be more cost effective?

I appreciate any advise or ...
