Hi all,
I've read through several posts but didn't find anything specific to my situation. I was hoping that someone could help.
I'm a Canadian citizen currently based in Hong Kong on a 90 day tourist visa looking for work... I came here initially because of contacts that I have and because it's much easier to obtain a work visa than in the US.
However, I was just offered a job in New York, and they want me to start Monday. I have prepared a TN-1 application, but am hesitant to fly all the way from Hong Kong to JFK only to be denied at the border.
1) What would happen if I was denied there? Would it be up to me to finance a last-minute flight to either Toronto or back to Hong Kong?
2) Is it possible to apply for a TN-1 at the US Consulate in Hong Kong. I've done my research and it appears that this is an option for Mexican citizens. Would it also be possible for someone in my situation, who doesn't want to risk US$1-2k on the mood of a US customs agent?
Thank you for your help.
Clint
