Oilers Fans In Need of the Stanley Cup Finals in the UK

Post Sun May 28, 2006 1:24 pm

Hi there,
My family and I are going to be coming back to the UK for a holiday from Edmonton over the next couple of weeks. What we didn't plan for was the Miracle on Ice that is happening with the Oilers in the NHL Playoffs. They have now made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. We want to be able to watch. We need suggestions. We are pretty desparate!
So far we know that Sportsnet Europe will be showing the game at game time, which is middle of the night UK time, but the box we have access to won't allow us to tape it AND we have to subscribe for the whole year. So I am wondering if anyone knows of any other alternatives, or ways around this?

Any advice would be appreciated, thoughts, comments, direction AT ALL.
Thanks Very Much

I must admit, seeing the Oilers make the cup final is indeed a big shock. Edmonton and Carolina both seem to be teams of "destiny" this season.

Every game is shown live on NASN. If you check out there website www.nasn.com it has all the info. I know that is a subscription channel with NTL or Sky so not sure about the contract situation?

Alternatively check channel 5 because, I know they quite often show games during the night. The website is www.five.tv/tvguide/.

Hopefully that helps and good luck to the Oilers.

Jeff.

hi,

i'm living and studying in bristol and i'm from edmonton. i'm totally dying as well, not being able to share in the mania that edmonton is going through at the moment. i think five might indeed be showing it. i just checked. but i think just at night. that's probably the best you're gonna get. the NASN shows the games of course, but you have to subscribe to that channel for a year. i'm planning on having a load of sleepless nights in the next few weeks.
Cheers!
