One way flights to the UK from Canada. Will I have trouble??

Post Fri Jun 10, 2011 12:20 pm

Hi all,
I am leaving for the UK from Canada next week and have spent ALL DAY on the UKBA website, consulting consulate/high commission information, visa websites and call centres and have gotten nowhere. HELP!!!!
I have a granted tier 5 sponsored certificate for the UK for 3 months. After this time I plan to go to South Africa for a few months. My question is, if I buy a one way ticket (which is MUCH cheaper and more logical in my case) from Canada, will I be admitted into the UK, or will they see this as an attempt to stay in the UK???
I would really appreciate any and all help!!!
Thanks!

Hello!!
I purchased a one way ticket from Calgary Canada to London Gatwick on Air Transat and had absolutely no issue. I just arrived on the Youth Mobility visa... so that could be why. Not 100% sure on the type of visa you have. Perhaps look into purchasing your onward ticket before entering the UK just to have something to prove you WILL be leaving the UK by when you claim, otherwise it could get sticky.
I had no issues with mine (my visa is for 2 years though....) but yeah that's what I'd consider doing! :) Hope this helps!
