Ontario Driver's license

Post Mon Dec 31, 2007 9:55 pm

Does the MTO require a new photo for each time you renew a driver's license? I was told that in some instances you are not be required to take a photo and you can renew by mail. How do they determine whether you need a new photo or not? ANy one have experience with renewing their license without taking a new photo via mail? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think when they send you your renewal notice it tells you whether or not you need a new photo. I'm not sure, but I think its 5 years or something. Information is probably on their website.

Yes, you are required to take a new photo upon DL & Health card renewal. I just renewed my license in Toronto last December. The only time you are not required to take a new photo is when you are updating your home address; they will mail you the new one to the new address with the old picture and the same expiry date.
