Ontario Finacee Visa

Post Mon Oct 15, 2007 9:04 pm

I am new to this and find it confusing. I am in Ontario and my fincee would like to file for me to live there and get married.I am single never married, The only problem is I assumed that montreal was the only place that looked after the finacee visa application. Now looking on their site is says they are no longer accepting any papers from American citizens becuase of staff shortages. The paper work he (fiancee) needs to file for the K-1 wants to know what city I am going to, well I just dont know? Do I go to toronto, Ottawa, Quebec is so frusterating. As for the police papers, and clearance, can I go to an RCMP office in Kingston Ontario instead of going to Toronto as its way out of the way for me to go. And does anyone know why you have to go to Toronto why cant a family doc do the papers for the medical exam? Can I bring things like recent xrays and bloodwork to speed the day up when I have to go to toronto for the medical?
Anyhow new to the site and thank you so much for answering all my questions, Its just that I need to know all this stuff so I dont have some sort of breakdown as I dont drive and have limited travel options. Thank you!

Go check out the forum http://www.visajourney.com You'll find all kinds of information regarding the fiancee visa there.

You will eventually be going to Montreal for your interview, but it'll be several months down the road. Initially, your fiance will send the petition to a service center in the US (whichever is closest to where they live), it does not go directly to the consulate in Montreal.

Where in Ontario do you live? I'm sure there are a couple other panel physicians besides in Toronto, but I don't know exactly where. Maybe around Ottawa in the east, and London in the west. There's a list posted at Visa Journey I think.

You can have your police certificate done in any Commissionaire's office in Ontario, and unless you have a police record for a crime committed, you only need the name and birthdate certificate, not fingerprints. But wait on having that done until your petition is approved and you're near your interview date. They do expire, so if you get it done now, you'll only have to do it again later.

about finacee visa

Post Thu Oct 18, 2007 6:59 pm

Thanks so much for the link for the Toronto area dr. Do I also have to get a special lawyer involved too? I read about paper work having to be notorized and I am 2 hours from Toronto and am pushing it being able to travel there and Montreal, I am hoping to only have to make two trips as I dont drive and dont want to be a nuisance to friends or family for my travel needs. Any info would be appreciated!

No you won't need a lawyer. Your US fiance will be the one that needs to have documents notarized, not you. Most bank branches here in the US have a notary on staff.

If you don't have a passport, you'll need that done before you get your visa. And for that you'll need a notary, but that's about it.
