Opening a Bank Account in France

How can I open a bank account in France/ I just walk in with money and my passport? Do I need anything else?

I know my reply may be too late for you, but it may help others. If you haven't already left Canada and are planning to move to France, the easiest way to get a French bank account is to do so in Canada at an HSBC branch. I did it and it was relatively easy. My Canadian friend that lives there said it's much more difficult to arrange once you're down there. Most things don't move as smoothly as they do in Canada, actually. It takes 4-6 weeks to process, so make sure you give yourself enough time. There is also a bank charge of anywhere between $100-200 as well.
