Options for a Canadian and American who want to marry

Sorry if this question is obvious or has already been asked but I'm looking for the different options a couple can take in getting married when one is a Canadian and the other is an American. I'm not finding exactly what I need to know online so I was hoping someone could give me a list of the different options and processes that could be taken and where I could look into them more. The couple wants to marry and live in the States and they would like to live together in the States prior to the wedding. Are there any processes that allow all of that? And what are the other American options? Are there easier Canadian options if they marry in Canada, and then more to the States? I just need the basics, like what the process is called and a short description and that would point me in the right direction. Thanks!
