I am a Canadian citizen and recently moved back to Canada after living and working abroad married to a US citizen in NYC. Due to the amount of stress I had to move back to Canada March of 2007. I left several months prior to my 2 year green card expiring (September 2007). I did not file an adjustment of status to lift the conditions on my green card prior to its expiry as i was not looking to renew my green card as I no longer was living in nyc with him any longer. I do have alot of ties in Ontario Canada.family, Apartment, Full Time Job, Drivers License, Passport, Health Card as well as Divorce Application process started 02/01/08.

1) I need to know if my Canadian passport serves to be enough now to travel as I would like to plan to visit in the future.

2)I may have a new job offer by an US company in Buffalo that would require me to travel to the Buffalo by car three days a week as an executive assistant travelling from Toronto. What process do they need to follow to hire me as a Canadian then as I am out of status as of last Sept.my divorce is in process from the Ontario end?

Your forum is so helpful I am very concerned about this. Please Help! Thanks!~

Yes, your passport is sufficient ID to travel back and forth for vacation visits.

For business trips, your company will likely need to petition to get you a work visa of some sort.

I really appreciate you getting back to me.
I just would hate to drive all the way to the border and find out I can not visit. Thanks again!

Hi again.do you think i have to relinquish my expired conditional resident green card expired last october to visit the u.s.a or is my passport sufficient when i drive across the border? Please advise as I do not want any issues when driving across the border. I was told by someone i needed to go to the border first to relinquish it sign papers and basically they would take me out of their system.
Then the next time i travel to the states i will be able to just use my canadian passport to visit the usa.
I appreciate your help. Please advise.
Thank you.

They may ask you to hand over your expired card yes. Probably a good idea to take it with you next trip so they don't give you a hard time.
