Overstayed for 11 months, please help with advice!

Post Mon May 30, 2011 10:42 pm

I am Canadian citizen who entered United States by foot 11 months ago.The passport I used to enter United States has expired in meantime, insomuch I applied for new one by mail and now I have new blank one.I am considering short trip to Jamaica for a week.On my way back to States, what should I expect? Will border people at airport know that I previously overstayed, trying to fix my error by Jamaican week?OR,will they be ignorant depending on what I tell them? Can I tell them that I flew to Jamaica from Canada and not from States week before? Will the new issued passport make any difference in determining what they really know about my entries and departures?I heard all kinds of rumor, now I would deeply appreciate if someone who is credible answers all these questions, because I am concerned, last thing I want is ban of any kind, especially from US authorities on blank new, issued passport.

Well I guess you should not violate our laws then.

What you are looking for is a way to get out of what you did. Sorry, take what you get. Can we see you overstayed no matter what your passport says, yes we can. Will the Officer you talk to figure it out when you make entry, maybe, maybe not. If he does his/her job, you will be refused and/or banned from the USA.

I don't have any qualms about lying, but in your case I would suggest against it. Flight manifests are readily available to immigration personnel, and any representation can very easily be found out. I would stick to the truth and not volunteer any information if not asked. Good luck!

You don't. Just like you don't know whether everything posted by an anonymous individual on an online forum is true or not.
I'm trying to communicate to the OP that my advice is not motivated by personal morality, but is given strictly with regard to potential tangible consequences.

Can someone help me please?????

I paddled my canoe across the river into Canada, where I have now been for the past two years. I currently am unemployed and living off of the generous Canadian taxpayers for my health insurance and my unemployment checks. My problem is that I have to go visit a friend back home in Vermont, and I need to know how to lie my way back into Canada because I sold my canoe. Please help me because I did not mean to sneak across the border, I just have a bad sence of direction. Could someone here please help me come up with something, as I do not want to lose my free health benefits. Yes, I am here illegaly, but I don't care, I deserve to be here.

P.S. Thanks in advance.......

Why no response?

If I was a Canadian living ileagally in the USA I would get loads of help.

Different when it's someone breaking "your" laws.
