Overstayed my visit to Canada

Post Sat Nov 01, 2008 11:34 pm

Hello Everyone,

I have seached and searched and can't seem to find what I am looking for.

Background: Back in Febuary of 08' I flew to Canada to spend some time with my fiance. I ended up staying untill September 19th. ( 1 month and change over the 6 month mark) While i was there i went to the Immigration office to ask some question regarding the process for being able to work in Canada. The lady told me that I need a job offer and a positive LMO ( labour Marker Opionion) and to take a drive to the border to adjust my statues. To make this long story short I got all that was required. Went to the border and the immigration officer there was the one to tell me that i was over by that month an change. He told me of all the things that he Could have done, but in return just asked for 1000 dollars as proof of being able to support myself for the time it took before my first paycheck. Excited yet devistated I didnt have that kind of money on hand, and was told i wasnt able to re-enter at that time. The Job offer is no longer available and i am now currently back in the states.

My question: ( sorry this is so lengthy lol)

I was hopeing to fly back to Canada once more before Christmas, and before my fiance files the paperwork for sponsorship. Does anyone know how will all of this affect my re-entry at the Airport If I'm able to enter at all. I wouldn't want to spend money for a round trip ticket to find out I'm unable. Any help or advice would be great.

Cheers to ya'll

How is your fiancee going to sponsor you for immigration to Canada? Canada does not have a fiance visa.

If you have already overstayed your allowed 6 months, and if the IO at your visa interview made note of it in the computer, then if you attempt to visit again this year, you will probably be denied entry.

Yeah, you'll probably be denied entry, don't try it until next year.
Steve.
