Panama - Info needed

hey fellow Canuck's I'll be heading to Panama for 3 months starting in January to waste a little time before I go back to work in Northren Alberta in April. I'm really interested in collecting information and what not before I leave and i don't even know where to start. well, thats only partially true, I've picked up the following things.

Northface Skareb 40L backpack affixed with canadian flags
Lonley planet guide to Panama
$3000 American.

I will be staying my first month in Panama city under the roof of a friend of a friend of a friend. lol, but at $200/month I wont complain.

Im also trying to build a list of hostels in panama, prefferably the cheaper side of things, (nothing over $15/night)

if anyone has an good places to stay around the country for <$350 per month that would be awsome! also, if anyone knows of any good site to see. lets post em up, maybe picture links too. so i can start building a list of things to do.
