Passport Expires Before Student Visa

Okay I can't get into the passport office until Wednesday but I would like to know if anyone can shed some light on my problem. I have a canadian passport that expires in March 2012. My Student Visa for the UK expires in September 2012. Now, will the Government put my visa in my passport or do I seriously have to pay to get this done again? Or.... can I carry both passports with me? Something tells me the UK government and the canadian government need to both be involved again. This is daunting! Hopefully they know what to do weds. Thanks! EDIT: I should have researched this here before posting. Lots of info!!!

You can either carry both passport when you travel in and out the UK or have your visa transferred to your new passport.
