Ok, so I am officially cutting it close. I had a hard time with a guarantor on my passport while trying to make it home for a family reunion. I sent my application in on the 26th of July via Overnight Canada post (from Vancouver as that is where my Guarantor is). I asked for verification that it had been recieved the following weekend, and monday I got it. I called, and they said that I would have my passport on the 18th of August, as it would be overnighted on the 17th. My flight leaves on the 19th.
Being paranoid, I called a week later to confirm, and they told me that it had JUST started being processed, as they had just recieved it. (slightly odd) I explained that I had notice saying that it got there nearly 2 weeks prior, and being the government she was very pleasant.. (or not so much) in explaining that if I wanted it in time to fly I should have applied sooner. This I know.
Fast forward to today, I called again as they took the payment out of my account and I was informed that it is now in printing, and she could not give me any dates except that with my processing times they would have until the 30th to deliver it still in their window.
So that whole round about story leads to this question..
When my passport is being printed, How long until I get it? My flight leaves in a little over a week, and my family reunion is next Saturday. Any idea? Any secret passport canada personel have any top secret info? Do I just cancel my flight now?
Thanks!
