I have "the right of abode" for England an old Canadian passport. My present passport expires next month. How do I renew it without having to go to London? Can I have a new Right of Abode stamp put in this new Canadian Passport.
Thanks, Christine

You can do it by mail. I think all the info you need is here: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/un ... x?lang=eng

As far as I know they will restamp your new passport; that's what they did for me (I now have a British passport though). I renewed my Canadian passport about 2 years ago without any problems.

I just renewed my passport by mail. No problem,. It took a week.

I don't know anything about stamping your new passport, but I know that you can still keep your old passport. It will be stamped "Cancelled".

as katsmum points out, Canada will renew the passpost, but UK decides how you transfer/change/update your UK visa.

If you are in the UK get to the London location of the British passport office located at the Globe House in Victoria with a filled in VAF7 + the old passport with that visa/certificate inside + documentation required outlined in the link below + fee

Applying in the UK the current fee is £162 & I believe its possible to apply on-line.

Again, see the details in the link below

That should do it

Just to complete response to Hakhtar's questuionss:
yes, unlike some other UK visas and/or stamps in your old passport, you do need to re-apply for Right of abode every time you renew your passport, and not just carry both passports. This is primarily because your Right-of-abode certificate is supposed to expire coincidentally with your passport.

You still have right of abode, and you could use the old one to, say, prove to an employer you can work while in UK, but for entry purposes, you should get a new ROA for your new passport.
