A birth certificate, plus other supporting picture ID should do, but opick up a passport renewal form at you local post office and the ID required is listed.

If you can get to a passport office, go there in person and explain your dilemma - or telephone if necessary. A week is very short but it might happen. Alternatively, they might be able to issue you a temporary travel document to get you to your "home" where you can apply at more leisure. Key is to explain the problem and ask what they can do to help. John

Thanks for your quick reply John. Unfortunately I only have a Driver's License and no Canadian birth certificate as I was not born here. It is next to impossible to get a "live" person on the phone at a passport office - only voice recordings with selections that do not apply.very frustrating! Is there a particular office in Toronto which has more experience or "seniority" with these types of issues?

It doesn't look promisintg. You certainly can't get a passport based on a driver's licence. You may have to have your citizenship documents couriered to you.

There are several "Service Canada" locations in Toronto that take application forms, but would have difficulty answering specialized questions. Your bewst bet is a personal visit to the Office of the Passport Bureau at: Suite 300, 74 Victoria Street,
Toronto (open Mon-Fri: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) Although you'll have to wait in a queue for a while, a personal conversation is the best way to explain your predicament.
