Alright,
for all the Ontario people out there, personalausweis means personal id card. Mandatory when you are sixteen in Germany. If you want to get a a Canadian ID Card which is valid in Germany, go to your provincial department of motor vehicles and get a simple ID Card. Back home in N.S. it only cost 11 bucks. And it really works in Germany. Trust me!
Those who like it.like it alot.

For example: I got sick of watching German TV (it gets really annoying watching Tom Cruise and Jim Carry speak German after a while)

A bit off topic: I know exactly what you mean. At your location in the Rhein-Main area satelite TV from the UK would work well, I can recommend setting up a satelite dish with a diameter of at least 80 cm towards the orbital position 28°E Astra 2/Eurobird. You will be able to watch many movies or TV series in English free to air without the need of a expensive Sky Digital package.

I know I'm going off topic here but someone mentionned trading in their Canadian drivers licence for a German one. Did you get stuck with an automatic only licence? That happened to me in the UK and I want to know if this time I'll have to take a driver's test (I didn't really drive in the UK so I didn't much care).

If you have a G class Ontario Driver's license, you can go to the TUV place and trade it in for a B class EU license which is pretty much the same thing as a G in Ontario. No driver's test is required, it might cost you something though, but not more than 50 euros.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look in to it!

yep , driving licence is not really accepted in Europe, don´t you have an Aufenthaltsgenehmigung ? because walking without paper is not really good . the Aufenthaltsgenehmigung is the same as a personalauswei for foreigners :-P

"Aufenthaltsgenehmigung"? Is that really all one word? And people say English is a difficult language -- imagine my grade one students trying to sound that out! :)
