Pets in UK

Post Wed Oct 05, 2005 12:33 pm

Hi All,

I'm just looking into what it's going to take to bring 2 cats with us to Scotland from Canada and I'm hoping for some feedback. They are my boyfriend's cats and I think it makes more sense to try to find homes for them in Canada(of course, they are not my cats and I'm nowhere near as attached to them as he is). Any suggestions?

Try going to www.defra.gov.uk - it tells you everything you have to do to bring pets into the UK. It's a bit complex (we're currently getting the ball rolling on this ourselves).
Good luck!

I know! And I read somewhere that if the scanner can't read the microchip the pet is put into quarantine immediately and the owner has to pay for boarding!

does anyone know if rabbits HAVE to be quaranteened for 6 months?
or if you go through the whole procedure that they say for dogs/cats/ferrets will they allow the rabbit entry ASAP? or at least not 6 flippin months!!
(and since when were ferrets considered so much more "pets" than rabbits?!)
